What are the common reasons Accountants fail to make the transition into providing proactive business advice to their clients?

Paul Latham teaches us there are likely 3 causes:

  1. Accountants must recognize that they need to lead their clients to business advisory services, not vice versa.
  2. Accountants must create a structured process or system - treating advisory services as a product which they can easily sell and deliver.
  3. Accountants must be mindful that they will usually need some coaching in delivering business advisory services. Typically, accountants are not experts in this area (at least in the beginning).
